Twelve Dancing Princesses Sneak Out in Amherst

The Tomorrow River School District’s acting club will raise the curtain on Twelve Dancing
Princesses at 6:15 p.m., Friday, March 9. The cast and crew of 4th, 5th, and 6th (and a few 7th),
grade students have been rehearsing on stage since January 4 in the district cafeteria. Crews
learned how to design and paint scenery for the kingdom, and fashioned props and costumes for
33 actors. The cast members have memorized lines and blocking and have grown into a tightly
knit ensemble, prepared to entertain classmates, families and community for a night of dancing
and delights.

The adaptation of the Grimm Brothers’ classic fairytale, Twelve Dancing Princesses, is a
humorous story of a dozen young girls with a passion for dancing. They sneak out each night to
dance with a dozen “Prince Charmings” but have to face their father’s puzzled angst the next
morning when he reacts to their worn out shoes. All the mystery and madness makes for a
madcap, revolving chaos.

Directed by Nina Cass of Amherst, the club boasts numerous adult volunteers: Lisa Anderson,
Kim Beaudoin, Rex Cass, Cara Dowsett, Louise Pease, Shane Semrow, and Bethany Stokes
have been diligently supervising and coaching the crews. The troupe could not achieve success
without these determined and patient people. Thank you all for your efforts and investment in this

A spaghetti dinner (lenten option available), will be served at 5:30 p.m. for those who are able to
dine ahead of the community performance. No separate tickets will be sold for the dinner.
Tickets are on sale in the elementary school office: $4.00 for children under 12 and $8.00 for adults (dinner included)
