The Community Spirit in conjunction with the Journal from the Heartland is proud to announce a new column featuring kids enjoying nature, called Kids Chasing Outdoor Dreams. Somewhat similar to our Show Us Your Spirit column, we’re encouraging local citizens to send in photos accompanied with a brief description of our youth enjoying the thrills of nature in its purest forms, close to the lands and waters. This could include fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, biking, foraging, camping and exploring nature in all kinds of low-tech ways. Whether it’s building a fort or cross-country skiing or catching tadpoles in the local culvert… Let’s see those pictures and stories of our young folks getting close to what is dearest to us out there in nature!
Journal from the Heartland will assist the Spirit in bringing adventuresome outdoor stories of our wondering youth. Please submit your photos and stories to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration. The Journal editors will interview the youth and help develop the story.
The column debuts in this issue on page 23 with a story about a big fish.
