The International Bank of Amherst is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Blenker to the board of directors. “I am honored to be a part of the board of directors at the International Bank of Amherst and look forward to learning and connecting with the community even more,” said Blenker.
Blenker was born in the Amherst area and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduation she came home to learn the art of insurance from her father, Phil Martin.
She has been with Community Insurance for ten years, quickly becoming a partner with Dale Bestul in the agency, which now has four offices in the area. Asked about her business, Blenker said “I love the connection we have with the community and we are truly blessed with a wonderful staff.”
Blenker serves on the board of directors for the Image Group of Wisconsin, and in 2017 she co-chaired the United Way of Portage County campaign, which raised over $3M for Portage County. She is an ambassador with the Portage County Business Council and an active member of the Golden Sands Home Builders Association. She also organizes the charitable fundraiser, Robert’s Rendezvous, started in 2016 with her family, in memory of her brother Robert E. Lea Jr. who passed away from mesothelioma unexpectedly in 2015. She also has traveled to Washington, D.C., in Lea’s name to lobby for the ban of asbestos.
She’s married to Justin Blenker, of Blenker Companies, Inc., and together they have two children.
