The Tomorrow River Lions Club had its first meeting of 2019 on January 3 at Ambrosia’s Pub and Grill. The membership was informed that the annual children’s Christmas party was a great success with 120 children and 60 adults in attendance.
Among our guests at the meeting were Jack Kuhr and Jack Nordness representing the Iola Lions Club who reminded our membership of the upcoming Iola Winter Carnival on the first weekend in February. A lot of activities are planned for this year’s carnival from ice sculpture contests, to the annual Ski Jumping Tournament, and of course the famous Lutefisk Supper and craft show held at the Iola-Scandinavia High School gym.
In addition, our club was favored with the presence of our District Governor Brad Behrens who installed our latest new member Brent Holderman. Lion Holderman was sponsored by long time Lion member Kyle Krogwold.
The District Governor also honored a number of our members by presenting them with Chevron pins representing years of service to the club. Among those honored were:
Dan Konkol 15 years Mike Barden 25 years
Russell Schroeder 15 years Marshall Lysne 30 years
James Trzinski 20 years Butch Pomeroy 40 years
Eugene Allen 25 years Ward Wolff 50 years
Charlie Iverson 60 years
On January 16, the Tomorrow Rivers Lions sponsored an inspirational speaker, Reggie Dobbs who spoke to the elementary and middle school children about relationships, bullying, and various forms of drug abuse.
President Haebig and the Board of Directors are laying out preliminary plans for a number of activities for the New Year. It promises to be an exciting time of fun, fellowship and community service.
