Amherst Banker Celebrated for 50 Years of Service

After half a century of service to the community, Harvey Olson from the International Bank of Amherst has been honored for his dedication to the banking industry.

Olson and his family have owned and operated OK Hardware on Main Street, Amherst since 1959. Survival of a small town hardware store is a strong indication of excellent leadership. In addition, Olson was a realtor for many years. Olson has a strong record of dedicated and active participation as a director, member of the audit and loan committees as well as long term planning for the bank. Further, he regularly brought new customers to the bank. In addition, he has served as a community and civic leader giving generously of his time, talents, and money.

Olson was honored at the Bank Executives Conference in Wisconsin Dells, the largest banking event in Wisconsin, on Feb. 4. Olson was recognized along with inductees into the WBA’s 50 Year Club for extraordinary service to Wisconsin’s financial industry.

The Wisconsin Bankers Association is the state’s largest financial industry trade association, representing nearly 235 commercial banks and savings institutions, their nearly 2,300 branch offices and 23,000 employees.
