This year, in partnership with the Amherst Parent Teachers Organization (PTO), the Falcon Fun Run begins promptly at 9 a.m. for runners aged 5 to 10 years old. The PTO will be providing fun and crafts from 8 a.m. to noon. And Amherst’s Own Child Care will have some fun activities to get the kids involved!
The five-mile run begins at 10 a.m. and the two-mile walk begins at 10:05 a.m., both departing from Central Waters Brewing Company, located at 351 Allen St. in Amherst. All ages and abilities are welcomed. Those who plan on walking or running and have a disability, please contact the race director at firstname.lastname@example.org so accommodations can be made.
Top capacity of 1500 participants for the 2018 River Run and Walk has been reached and registration is closed.
All those registered will receive a River Run 2018 shirt. Registration transfers will not be allowed after September 30. All participants will get a commemorative 22-ounce bottle of Central Waters beer (must be 21 years or older) and a free pint of Central Waters beer (21 and over) or draft root beer after the race.
New This Year: Registration for the River Run grants runners the opportunity to purchase one bottle of Central Waters Black Gold during the Great Amherst Beer Fest. Registration is not required for admittance into the beer fest this year. The Beer Fest will end at 4 p.m. that day.
Parking is available near the brewery and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Due to a necessary street closure of Allen Street for the race, people arriving in the area after 9:45 a.m. will be directed into alternate parking lots off of Washington Street. Also, with the exception of emergency vehicles, no vehicles will be allowed to enter or leave the Central Waters Brewery area (Allen Street south from Washington Street) during the hour or so that the race is in progress.
Registration packet pick-up will be held at Central Waters Brewing Company on Friday, Oct. 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and on the morning of the race from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. Please be early and expect lines at registration, as the race will begin at 10 a.m. sharp.
Important: At registration, you must present your ID and get wristbanded if you are over 21 and wish to consume alcoholic beverages. Allow yourself time to return your race swag to your vehicle before the race.
This run is the main annual fundraiser for the Lettie W. Jensen Community Center in Amherst. This facility hosts live music, plays, recitals, senior meals, classes, and music lessons, as well as so many other things. The endowment alone cannot support the facility and your participation is greatly appreciated. Thank you to all in the community who help make this event a success. We hope to see you there!
