The streets of Amherst will surely be bustling on May 4 – 5 during the annual Swap-O-Rama! The deadline to register your rummage sale is April 27 and the cost is $5.00. Applications are available at the Village Hall, area businesses, and in this month’s Community Spirit newspaper. Maps of the various sales will be available in area stores beginning on Tuesday, May 1.
In addition to the community-wide rummage sale, the Jensen Center will be offering a variety of childrens’ activities on Main Street on Saturday, May 5. Nancy Nowak is organizing a Charities Auction & Rummage Sale to take place on Saturday outside the Landmark Coffeehouse, located at 102 S. Main Street, beginning at 8 a.m. All proceeds will be donated to four different charities, including, Doctors Without Borders, American Refugee Committee, Mercy Ships, and the Amherst Opera House Guild. The Landmark’s owner, Mark Nowak, has invited several musical groups to play between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The performers include Ish Jimanez, Al & Alison Schroeder, Cray Rickman, and Troy Piotrowski. The Village Hive Bakery & Local Foods Collective, located at 127 N. Main Street, has also invited several local musicians to play traditional Irish music and will be hosting a brat fry with help from Sarah and Robin River of Primitive Pastures Farm.
